Agriculture Revolution | Things you need to know | Causes, Effects and Changes | thetutee

Agriculture revolution was the second biggest and prominent revolution in the history of the mankind. Human beings started living together for a common cause, it was the first time in the history that they started to domesticate the animals for the livelihood. It was thousands year journey from hunter gatherers to living in a specific area. Although the hunter spirit in us is still alive but it is not the only thing which is keeping us alive.

It is thought that about 2.5 million years ago human being and chimps shared the common grandmother, in other words we can say that chimps are our closest cousins in the food chain.

Daily usage of fire started about 200,000 years ago, there are many theories about the causes of the fire like in which part of the world the fire started, but somehow, they figured a way to set the fire. Some people think that cooking of the meat started when they saw that the fire in the jungle has burned the animals which made them curious to taste the meat which was easier to eat. So somehow, this naturally caused fire was a factor which led them to cook the food.

70,000 years ago, cognitive revolution happened to Homo Sapiens, due to which we have almost won the race of the survival of the fittest. With the passing of each year our relationship to other animals in the food chain has become tempestuous, our activities have caused many to go even extinct and is still happening now. We human being have besmirched the purity and the beauty of the mother nature around us.

15,000 – 20,000 years ago domestication of plants and animals started. It is when the permanent settlements started. They thought that by doing so they would collect more meat, grains, and fruits. We started assigning tasks to the people or the groups. Some researchers proclaim that this set the Homo Sapiens on prosperity progress and the development. On the other hand, there are people who believe that it set us on ether damnation and the destruction.

The agriculture transition started around 9500 – 8500 BC in Turkey, Iran, and Levan. Further crop rotation begins; potatoes were started to be grown in the Mexican region. Maze, Barley, and many other crops were started to be grown in different parts of the world. Chinese started to domesticate the rice, millet, and pigs.

By the first century AD most of the world were agriculturists. In the mid-18th century two agriculturists from the from Britain, Robert Bakewell and Thomas Coke introduced selective breeding.

The cattle were started to be used for meat purposes, many Europeans opened cattle farms to sell the meat and a new era of domestication of the animal got started for the meat.

Flanders and the Netherlands became the pioneer in the canal building and by the end of the 1600th century agriculture tools were started to be made, plough and shovel were the first agriculture tool to be used by the farmers.

Seed drills were first being used in the China which were then brought to the Europe in the second century BC. People started to claim the grass lands so that they could graze their animal. These were the times when people started to fight for the land with not only other humans but with the rival animal kingdom such as the wild foxes etc. which claimed their land and their livestock.

From the year 1604 to 1900 century different acts were passed by the government to own the property or the land legally. As the food was in excess it was the first time in the history that a sudden increase and boom of population was observed.

Agriculture markets were set by every government of the state. It was the time when the capitalist farmers emerged. These agriculture markets and the businesses were some of the factors which triggered the industrial revolution and the unending lust cycle for the money begun, with which the power worsened the situation.

Yuval Noah Harari a prominent writer of the 21st century called the agriculture revolution to the history’s biggest fraud as the capitalism strengthen its root in the society. The lust for the power and the begins in that era and this lust is making our society’s values hollow from inside.

Some historians believe that our lives have become more difficult and less satisfying in general. The population explosion and pampering of the elite has become amplified with the passage of time.

This revolution does not stop here it changed the demography of the whole world. Climate begins to change; habitat loss begins for the wild animals. Due to deforestation food chain got badly disrupted and now some of the animals are at the surge to become extinct. THIS IS WHY HUMAN BEING CALL THEM SELVES INVINCIBLE BUT some people think that WE DID NOT DOMESTICATED ANIMALS RATHER IT HAS DOMESTICATED US.
